Just joined although have seen the site several times. This is simply the best from what I've seen. Really have no complaints at all. Have read all the posts, you are surely a patient man considering all the requests you get for additions and changes considering the price of all this info (free) and the effort you put in. Great Job!!!
For months, I've been using SkyVector to get the METARs for the local area because the TV weatherman is a bonehead and comparing METARs have proved to be more useful. But now that i'm a student pilot, i can't wait to use SkyVector to plan my first cross-country trip because just looking at the school's computers makes me nervous... your site makes things so easy! Thank you so much for putting in your hard work!
The only thing i'd like to see (and maybe i'm missing the link on the site) is a glossary of icons...like what does it mean when the airport has dots all over it, kinda looks like color halftone dots, see LOM and NXX. also why is the 388 on NXX scratched out?
So many questions....oh boy, being a new student is rough!
thanks for the hard work!
I just signed on and want to know how to notify about an error in the airport information. Specifically the owners name and phone number. MO00 Turkey Mountain Airport

The good news is that once the FAA accepts the change every site on the Internet, including SkyVector, will soon have the updated information.
You can submit the changes here:
https://nfdc.faa.gov/portal/airportChanges.do
I have do not understand what the various colors of the dots at the airports mean. I would guess it has to do with whit the current weather is and I can not find a legend as to what they are.
Thanks from KCMA
I type in a flight plan sequence and add it and then I get double routings ? How do I delete waypoints without clearing the entire flight plan? I tried everything I could think of and clearing the plan and starting over seems to create more of a mess in multiple leg duplication ?
@ aeromike49 In the flight plan box, mouse over the way point and you should see a red circle with a minus, that's to delete the point. You can also click on the square with the ICAO of the point and drag it to change the sequence.
I am a commercial pilot with close to 30 years experience and just wanted to say I really enjoy this site. Great data, huge information provided and easy to use. Congratulations and thank you.
I got to say, this site deserves some awards. Very nice, clean and easy to use, not to mention very fun as well. I give you a standing ovation for this site, simply put, pure genius!

Hiya - fantastic site! I wish we had the same for the UK.
Is there any way to print/export your flight plan? I use this site for flight simulation and it would be great to get a copy of the plan I can use while not having Skyvector on screen.
many thanks,
Roger.
I use a variety of online flight-planning sources including AOPA. SkyVector is where I go first for my initial phase of planning. An ability to swap charts is one of the major reasons.
Great job, Dave! Continued success.
I wanted to admire your nice work! I access your maps from time to time while flying on Flightsim. Here is something about us.
We are a group of dedicated FSX Flight Sim Pilots looking for challenging flying conditions and airports. Flying in Alaska and British Columbia in real weather conditions is where you will almost always find us. The combination of extraordinarily beautiful scenery and difficult flying conditions create a flying experience unlike any other. We especially enjoy ILS approaches with extremely low visibility through mountain passes. We now have thirteen free download airport scenery packages containing 800+ airports .... Most of these airports are original with unique characteristics making the approaches challenging and fun at the same time. We have also developed our own highly customized and personalized panels that are perfect for ILS and non-precision approaches. We fly almost every night, and can be found on Game Spy under the name of "It's tougher in Alaska".
Feel free to drop by at http://coosbayhops.com/.
Kevin.
Ps. I prepare the Coosbayhops Newsletters and I will be showcasing your website in the December newsletter. Again, very good work Dave.
Hi Dave, wonderful intro video and brilliant site! I only just discovered SkyVector in the air on a silly ifone. But the tool has no 'right-click' and no 'shift' functions. Are there "i" equivalents, or must one wait for a real computer to use these functions of the site?
Cheers,
Alan
How do I add a waypoint in lat / long? I have tried it many different ways and it will NOT ad to a route of flight. i.e. N32.45.33 W92.66.34 (spaces between 33 & W92 still will not show up on sectional. Thank U
Dave,
I have glanced at SkyVector a few times, but had no reason to switch as I have been using Dave Parson's http://runwayfinder.com/ for years. It is shutting down at the end of the month and my pilot friends suggested I switch to SkyVector. You should be getting a large influx of new users.
President Obama is coming to the LA area this week. I am used to seeing future and current TFRs on my flight planning chart. Are they available on SkyVector ?
Thanks,
ed
That's a really disheartening turn of events. AeroNav seems to have really left their mark on this segment of the aviation industry: a dark, ugly stain.
Keep in mind that Aeronav Products, where I am employed, has been mandated by legislation to recover the cost of producing our chart products. 49 USC Section 44721 only provides for the collection of fees for the purpose of reimbursing the government for the costs of creating, printing, and disseminating aeronautical products and services.
It takes hundreds and hundreds of hours just to design, flight inspect and chart just one safe flight procedure. As a flight instructor in the air everyday as well, I appreciate the dedication that goes into this process. The fees are there only to recover the cost as mandated by congress, as many government agencies have and will be forced to do, not for profit. I personally don’t see why that is a black mark?
BTW Dave we also use you site here as well in my daily flying and instructing, my hat’s off to you!
Love the site, but having trouble getting charts to load on my iPad and iPhone. It was working earlier in the week, but now all i get is a blank page stating "the requested page "/" could not be found" after going to skyvector.com in safari.
I can however still use the airport lookup, forums, video, ect...
I would like to download and upload routes to Skyvector, but don't know the html syntax to automatically add a flight plan or access the "link" address. Can someone help me?
We're rolling out some pretty big changes which will include some URL parameter changes. When those are complete, we'll post a guide that should explain everything.

That would be fantastic.
I am using Skyvector as one of a set of tools to develop specific Air Traffic Scenarios for conducting research in next generation Air Traffic Management technologies. This tool is proving invaluable, but I would like to be able to upload initial routes and download modified routes directly into our scenario definition files so they do not have to be manually transferred.
How soon do you think this new capability would be ready?
Your site is really interesting and deserves to learn to use it. Could you tell me find documentation or tutorial?. Videos on this subject? (in French if possible!?). excuse me my english is very bad.
The free access allows you to realize flight plans very realistic.
I am a software user of PMDG also very realistes.SkyVector is a very practical tool. It is for this reason that I registered on your site. I hope to have access to all functions. Quickly find maps SIDs and STARs for example.
In advance thank you for your reponce and congratulations for your achievement. this is good work.

Dear Sir as a student, Who purchased one of Sectionals
Trying to use your charts , I find it difficult connecting my check points.---Reason is the chart are predefined and small, they do not fill a 8.5 by 11 sheet. This makes it unaccurate connecting the charts togther . Is their any way I use the flight planning tool and then print just the area thats necessary for the flight plan.
Your flight planning is verry good and easy to use, I presently have to use Sectionals with the information from your
Sky Vector and re-draw it andit onto the sectional .
Sorry, I am not able to see the video...from what i see this site is astonishingly good but I don't have the knowledge how to use it, to appreciate it :( Anyone can help with the video or any other place where the usage instructions are given? Many thanks everyone!
