Are the charts current
Are the charts current?
Yes they are
Excellent question, Vinny. SkyVector currently serves over 200 charts in its map viewer, 5,000 A/F-D images, and 15,000 PDF's of the Terminal Procedures Publications (Approach plates, Etc). We maintain a database of each chart's valid from and valid to dates. This allows us to pre-load a new chart before it is valid, and the system will stop serving the old chart at the same time it will start serving the new chart. This means that if a chart expires and the next edition is not ready, that chart cannot be reached at all. This also means that we need to stay on top of special changes such as what just happened with Charlotte and Atlanta, where the charts were updated early, ahead of their scheduled expiration date, to accommodate a change in Charlotte's Class Bravo Airspace. The last thing we have to watch for is the occasional Helicopter chart expiring. They are "Valid until next edition", with no predicted time for the next edition. The Grand Canyon VFR chart is also like this. We check in regularly to make sure that we are not caught off-guard by these updates. Everything else happens quite predictably, The IFR En-Route charts, Airport/Facility Directory, and Airport Data update on the same 8 week cycle, and the Terminal Procedures Publications are updated every 4 weeks. On any chart, you can scroll over to the margins and read the valid dates. All PDF products are dated either on the side or at the bottom. The Airport Information pages have a timestamp at the top stating the date the information became valid. That data is valid for 56 days. We take currency of all information very seriously here. Every 4 weeks, always on a Wednesday night, we have a "Chart Party!" where we make sure everything is ready to go and monitor the cutover at 0901Z. If you ever see something you think is wrong or out of date, please contact us immediately. skyvector@gmail.com is the best way to contact us. Thanks for your question and have fun up there! -Dave

Chart Party
I like the sound of a "chart party" even if it is at an ungodly hour. Sounds like you guys really love your jobs. =)
I'd be lying if
I'd be lying if I said it didn't usually involve a nice bottle of wine.
Lowest Safe Altitudes

1. Does skyvector take LSALTs from the current Arinc Cycle?

2. On skyvector, there does not seem to be any "directional LSALTS", why is this? Jep have many tracks the lowest safe is different depending on whether you are going from point A to point B ore from point B to point A.
