Out of Beta!!
We did it! We crossed the last issue off the list that was holding us in Beta. Now all users are enjoying the improved interface. If you see something broken, speak up. We'll do our best to fix it fast.

What a brilliant website. I normally fly in the UK and we don't have anything as good as this. Perfect for trip planning and getting weather. When are you going to be able to do something similar ofr the UK or western Europe? David

Congrats but..
Congrats guys! But I noticed I CAN'T access the airport pages directly via the identifier any longer. I have to know the identifier and the correct spelling for the airport name. For example for Hemet I have to do: http://skyvector.com/airport/HMT/Hemet-Ryan-Airport Whereas before I could shorthand it to: http://skyvector.com/airport/HMT and it would forward itself appropriately. Do you have plans to return that functionality. It was convenient. I'm a ruby hacker and I had a little script that I could run in my terminal to quickly access airport data. But it's too unwieldy now since I need to know the whole airport name and have to have it spelled correctly. Thanks! Scott
Usability VS Bling
Please return the direct access to the airport pages. The new graphical is gee-wiz from a programming view, but it is not entirely usable for data access. If I've come to this site, it is very likely that I know exactly what I am looking for. The graphical browsing is just fluff that I must click through to reach the intended data. From other posts I've discovered that I can enter the airport ID in the 'GO' box and land on a pin for the airport. This seems to work for larger airports but not for smaller ones. If I enter a search item then I get a list of ALL the words that match from a variety of topics. For instance, I can 'GO' to NEW and reach the airport page by clicking the pin the clicking the 'plan' link, however I cannot access the airport page for LA49 via this method. To reach the airport page for LA49 I must search, but if try to use search for 'NEW' I get hits for several instances of the word 'new'. I believe that most pilots and aviation industry users will know the airport identifier of their interest. A direct access method will be improve usability of this site.
Better Search
Randy, I think you're talking about the search, and I agree, there are too many results returned, especially when the search query exactly matches an airport identifier. This is something we are working on and should be improved soon. If you mean something else by "Direct Access", please clarify. I would also welcome any user-interface suggestions on how to make the airport pages faster to find. It is worth mentioning that, from the chart view, you can reach the airport page for any airport by right clicking on it. In addition, any airport used in a flight plan is also a link to its airport page.
Beta doesn't work for me.
I seem to be the only one that can't use beta. I see no maps any more and can't get them to work like they used to. My only thought is that the maps aren't sent a different way now and maybe my workplace blocks it. They typically block proxies and other stuff like that. Am I the only one that can't see the maps any more?
Tiles are on a different server
The map tiles are served up from skyvector.net. We made the change to a different top-level domain to prevent the browser from sending the session cookies, which can be large, with each request for each tile. If your work cannot open up skyvector.net on your firewall, you can visit the SSL version https://skyvector.com/ which serves up all tiles over the SSL link from skyvector.com. There is a small performance hit, but has the added benefit of encryption. Note that the airport pages are not 100% SSL, so you may get the "some content is from non-secure sources" warning. We are working on fixing that and intend to be fully SSL usable.
Print Function
It says the print function is disabled! For how long? I've got a trip this Friday and I gotstahave my Skyvector!

Dave, Somehow, the Close, Minimize & Re-size buttons in the URH corner don't work. But, I can get some control with the Windows Task Master. What happened? Mike
