Belen Regional Airport was originally conceived as Goebel Airfield, named for the famed stunt pilot and record-breaker Col. Arthur C. Goebel. Years later, it became an airport of regional influence, expanding to two fully operational runways, and took on the name of former Mayor Neel Alexander.
Built on the west mesa a mile west of I-25, the airport is home to over 50 aircraft, a skydive club, a propeller maintenance facility, aerial photography, and other aviation businesses. It is also an air operations training site for the United States Air Force.
An airport lounge features restrooms, internet access, shower, classroom/conference room, and kitchenette.
