Hello. I'm new here and looking for thoughts about discussing navigational charting systems for an iPhone magazine. The focus of this article is GPS enabled applications that work on the mobile platform. Right now that means in great part the iPad and iPhone. I'll be discussing the four types of products - land based systems (Google Maps& MotionX), nautical systems (as best represented by Navionics), aeronautical systems (Jeppesen, etc.) and astronomical systems (such as GoSkyWatch). I'm looking for thoughts on product depth and design. E.g., assumedly there is a basic aeronautical application that manages various charts like the Northeast, etc. The SkyVector system seems to be an online product vs Jeppesen which appears to be all installed on the iP4 or iPad? How dies the firmer work when one us flying all over the place? How can one maintain sn Internet connection, affordably? Art installled products sold like the nautical Navionics charts? - application and charts are sold as combined packages; do, if I get several charts each uses the application with it plus the regional charts. Seems s bit consumptive of resources - like installing MS Excel with every newly purchased spreadsheet document.
Thank you ahead of time for any information given.
