Entering GPS Lat/Lon
Hi Dave - great site! I fly the Gulf Off-Shore to drilling rigs and production platforms. I can't seem to enter a GPS lat/lon in the flight planer in any GPS format. Am I entering it wrong?
Make sure there's no space
The biggest problem is that spaces are used to divide waypoints, so your coordinates must be entered without a space. The following should all work. Latitude first if no ordinal 28.3777,-93.7194 28.3777/-93.7194 Degrees, Minutes, Seconds Use 'd' and 'm' like decimal points dividing degrees into minutes, then minutes into seconds. Don't use the 's' for seconds. There is nothing after seconds and 's' means south Ordinals before or after in any order. 28d22m40n93d43m10w w93d43.12n28d22.67 You can also use the symbols if you have it. 28°22'40"n93°43'10"w NOTAM style: 282240N/0934310W You can use the regular decimal point anywhere you like. You can even to things like 28.33d2 which takes 28.33 degrees and adds 2 minutes to it. Not sure how this is a good thing, but it works. Have fun up there!

Entering GPS Lat/Lon
I like your site, and I use it a lot to prepare my initial plan via drag and drop before entering it into DUATs. I very much like the like feature, allowing me to sent the plan via e-mail. I've had a some frustrating problems: 1) Entering a bad Lat/Lon (e.g. 32°37'50"115°14'29") seems to be unrecoverable. 2) Cannot back out a bad entry. Perhaps a CTRL Z or something could be used to undo the last change. 3) Can we have some Mexico checkpoints? Duats has some (e.g. MMML). 4) Try this one (cut and paste from DUATs): PAO SJC V485 HENCE V485 RANCK V485 ROM V137 AVE V137 TAFTO V137 GMN V137 PMD V137 HITOP REI BNG PSP V137 TRM V137 BRAWL V137 IPL MXL MMML Perhaps the V485 and V137 (and any Vnnn) should be ignored. 5) You have lots of Lat/Lon formats. This is GREAT! Perhaps you could also allow 3719590/12149070 for 37:19:59 121:49:07 as done with DUATS (www.duats.com Flight Planning), and/or also allow something like 37:19:59/121:49:07. 6) Would be nice if we could assign a NAME/LABEL to a GPS waypoint. (e.g. 32°37'33"N 115°13'25"W[MXL]. Six characters would suffice. What do you think? Thanks, Godfrey (650) xxx-xxxx c

processing waypoints
Not sure Harvep, your trying to enter a GPS Lat/Lon into a software flight planning program? Or on this site? Or what and where? Just learning about this stuff myself. Maybe we can learn something here. My plan hopefully, is to use my students GPS to check the Dead Reckoning skills on some cross country flights. So I was going to make a couple of cross country flight plans here in the Philippines with several waypoints then plug it directly into the GPS, looks like I may end up getting the Lat/Lon coordinates of these different points and airports and then just setting in the chopper and creating the way points manually one by one. Not unless, someone gives me a fix here. This is a nice tool this site, would be nice to have this in the Philippines. One suggestion I'll give you Harv, go to www.youtube.com and type in entering Waypoints in your GPS, there's one guy has a video on there, but its for handheld GPS units, see if that sheds any light on your problem Best of luck David
new interface does not work

Witht the new interface this does not work anymore. I tried like 53.539702/10.313218. Impossible to save gps fix

use comma, no slant

The slant '/' character is used for altitude and speed changes mid-route. Use a comma instead.

Your answer does not help. I

Your answer does not help. I can Insert into the interface.

GPS fix

Try again

We loosened the pattern match to allow for a space after the comma.
