Magnetic Variation issue
Was planning a small flight to check the Magnetic Variation calculation. From KETC to KRWI To the east and west of this location are the Magnetic Variation lines of 9 degrees W and 10 degrees W. The show magnetic heading of the flight is 262 degrees. However SkyVector shows a true heading of 254 degrees in my flight plan. The decrease would be correct because of the left hand turn heading after takeoff, however the amount not exactly. If im in-between the 9 and 10 degree magnetic variation lines, how does the calculated true heading become 8 degrees lower? Wouldn't it be 9 or 10 degrees lower? I would assume 10 given the proximity to the variation line unless something else is being calculated here. Thanks ahead of time. :)
