Sky Vector APP for IPAD
Hi First of all would like to start my post by congratulating you guys for this amazing work and big effert to offer such page. My question is, are you planning to take this to the next level and create an IPAD/IPHONE App?? This would rock!! Also for flightplanning purposes it would be great if one could enter a FP using airways too... like : TIO UB767 PZA.., instead of using waypoints only. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work! Regards Esteban
It's in the works
Esteban, We have already begun work on an iPad app. We hope to launch it this spring. As far as your flight planning suggestions: We are working a completely new solution that will separate the navlog from the route editing and support sids/stars/airways. The navlog will be on a separate page, printable, and include burns and winds.
Military Users
Not sure if anyone there realizes how many military folks use your site to plan their flights. It would be brilliant if someone designed (and possibly patented) a function that allowed the user to set planning limits that would alert or not allow the user to plan a route that violated various criteria and the "profile" with other users (i.e. Army requires predominant weather to be at at or above planning minimums for the approach to be flown at ETA through one hour after and requires an alternate if not 400-1 above minimums). The function could warn or not allow a destination when certain conditions exist based on flight plan information. It could be customized to by the user to accommodate standard unit procedures as well.
Patents aren't the solution,

Patents aren't the solution, open sourcing is. One of the reasons many aviation sites and apps are so far behind silicon valley (with the exception of Skyvector and Foreflight of course) is everyone tends to want to stay closed. Aside from a core business and their "secret sauce", startups should open source everything else as it brings everyone else in the space up.  A former startup I worked for that has grown to a pre-ipo half-billion dollar company has that philosophy like many others.

Skyvector reminds me of a startup like that one that pushes innovation and isn't afraid of doing things and implementing features taht nobody has done yet.

I'm actually quitting my job to develop open source software, and in my spare time I may tackle a bunch of these problems in the aviation space and put the code out for all to use, if nobody else does first.  I would love to hear more about your suggestion and the specific. It sounds like doing something that is being accomplished today by

a) proprietary flight dispatch software for 121 ops and

b) flight crews doing it manually

iPad not displaying charts
I have been able to get charts in the past, but for whatever reason, the screen now appears blue on my iPad. There is a cross hair that will display coordinates and a zoom bar on the bottom, but the charts will not display. What can I do to fix this? Thanks!
iPad not displaying charts

I have the same problem as Suzanne. What gives?

It's a cache problem on your

It's a cache problem on your ipad go to Settings/Safari/Clear Cache & Browser history. Then restart safari by double clicking on the home buton. There problem solved. In any other browser like dolphin, opera etc. Just use the same procedure clearing cache.

Hopes this helps

Regards Ignacio

Hi Dave great news, I used

Hi Dave great news, I used before Jeppesen FD, now turn on to sky vector.

Sky vector is Moore easy to use, thanks for the nice service.

Is the IPad app available yet? Plus 1 Q. Thanks!

Just joined, great site. Is the IPad APP available yet? Can you still use your flight map navigation off line?

iPad app is not available yet

iPad app is not available yet. You can not use the map offline.

Offline usage

Would be GREAT to store a map or flight plan and use it with the gps offline. Bummer not to be able to work on the flight plan without a connection. (ipad app)

Just wanted to see if there was any update on a SkyVector app.  The world VFR sectionals are great...nothing like it in Europe.  I would love to use them when I am flying.

Alternatively could you make them available to Foreflight...which is a great app but lacking in World-wide mapping.

Another possiblity...I fly with Advanced Flight Systems avionics...any chance of doing something with AFS?

Foreflightmobile app

I'm looking for the ability to import skyvector plans into my ipad mini.  I can't find it.  How do I get it? Did it ever get developed?

ipad version

this is now written on the 4th of May 2017 - the last post i read was done in 2012...whats up with that? I am looking to see if there is an Ipad version for Skyvector???? It is really a good program never mind if you are on Mac or Windows...I am not using Jeppesen anymore due to their cost and actually it dosent do as much as Skyvector does - I am just a ferry pilot / contract pilot who is trying to get by for the last 20 years - and fly all over the world mainly with turbines - and this programm really works for me. So - where is skyvector for Ipad?

lets pay them a little fee yearly (I.E.) maybe 50$ so skyvector

....so skyvector can be a bit more accurate and have a few more tweaks i.e IPad friendly etc.....latest updated routes & reporting points - to an allready awesome site which in many ways beats Jeppesen(cost) and Foreflight (worldwide)- especially to us worldwide travellers like ferry pilots who need worldwide coverage......PLEASE!
