SkyVector Conquers the World!
SkyVector is pleased to unveil its world wide charts. Years in development, these charts will be refreshed every 28 days with updated aeronautical data. The charts come in three styles. Because they are far from perfect, we're calling them Beta. We need your help to find and fix all the little things.

World VFR

This chart is a "Sectional-style" VFR chart for use at low levels. For the United States, official FAA charts have been thoughtfully stitched together. For the rest of the world, topographical and aeronautical data have been sourced and assembled in a very high quality rendering.
Flight Planning at SkyVector.com

World Hi

The World Hi is a high-altitude IFR enroute chart. For the CONUS, official FAA Hi Enroute charts were stitched together. Oceans were painted blue, and high altitude jetways have been drawn for the rest of the world.
Flight Planning at SkyVector.com

World Lo

Similar to the World Hi, the World Lo depicts all low altitude Victor airways in the world.

A few new things

Along with the rollout of the new charts, additional weather overlay products are now available including Airmets and Sigmets, TFRs, plus Radar and Satellite imagery. The expansion to worldwide coverage meant some necessary changes to the way the "Go" box and the flight plan "Add" box work. Many identifiers are duplicated around the world. The system will use your current map location or the last planned point, and select the geographically closest matching object with the identifier you input.

More Changes Coming

Coming soon:
  1. Airport Pages for all International Airports
  2. FBO listings, comments, reviews
  3. Fuel Prices on the map
  4. Much better flight planning and Filing

Dear Dave, I am am a CPL flight instructor and freelance pilot, since 40 years in Bavaria / Germany. I discovered your SkyVector just yesterday and it is the best I have ever seen, regarding this kind of aeronautical information. Congratulations for a great thing, and a big innovation! I have discovered a small error. The airfield EDNT Treuchtlingen, is on your VFR map located very close to my home, however it is in reality about 100 nm to the south. The correct data is: EDNT Treuchtlingen-Bubenheim N48 59.8 E010 53.1 Elev. 1345 ft / 410 m info 122,600 Mhz

VFR to Australia
Hello there - a big thank you from me to add to all the others above. I am presently working on feasibility for a VFR flight to Australia from the UK to take place next year in my Piper Cherokee... without your charts online I wouldn't have been able to so readily work out the routes (in many places I will have to follow Low-level IFR routes even when VFR) and distances etc required to figure out whether I can make it between airfields with AVGAS..... now that I have found your magnificent system I have been able to plan all the routes within a day, over 11,500NM in total! The only addition I would ask for would be the ability to SAVE routes so that I can come back and amend as various planning assumptions change. Thanks again, Andy

India
This is amazing! I have tried to get VFR charts for India since a very long time, and know there's a government published WAC for the region but have not managed to find out where to buy one! I tried creating a new thread for India but for some reason it doesn't show up. Is there a lag before it shows up? In any case, here are my comments about the Indian charts. MWCL - Edward Bodden airfield in the Caymans shows up in the middle of India! N19°39.98' E80°4.94' Missing airports VOJK - Jakkur in Bangalore between VOYK and VOBG. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakkur_Airfield VOBI - Bellary near the Bellary VOR. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellary_Airport VOJV - Vidyanagar east of Bellary. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vidyanagar_Airport V095 - Hosur airport southeast of Bangalore. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosur_Aerodrome VOVR - Vellore airport between Bangalore and Chennai. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vellore_Airport Wrong airport symbol VOMY - has an asphalt runway but is shown as an unimproved strip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mysore_Airport More to come as I look through the charts. Thanks again!

Missing airports?
I've noticed for example, in Russia, there are some airports missing that I know for a fact exist. They appear on Google Earth, are they just purposely kept off the charts? I.E. Ramenskoye Airport (UUBW)

It is very difficult to find
It is very difficult to find all information about Pakistan at one place and I have run exhaustive search but could find appropriate stuff, however this website provides very good information and should be shared with all those looking for Pakistan Encyclopedia.

Errors
Hi Dave, is there a formal way to report errors? e.g. our airfield ETHI has a different identifier now: EDHF. The NDB next to it does not exist anymore... regards Georg

VOR Tool Suggestion
I'd like a tool that lets me shoot a bearing from a VOR and displays it on the chart separate from the flight plan so I can see what bearing I can expect when at a certain position. Unfortunately my ruler and pencil doesn't work so good on my computer screen :)

I did find just one bug..
I did find just one bug...When you enter a flight plan, you can no longer hover over or click on TFR's for the information on them. Thanx Dave...keep up the good work

Forgot to mention in my last
Forgot to mention in my last post that its not just TFR's you can't hover or click on after entering a flight plan, its all layered data.

Dave
Yeah I know about that one
It's a wierd glitchiness in MSIE 7 and 8. 9 seems fine, and, of course, all other non-MS browsers are fine. I'll keep fidling with it to see if I can't get it to work right.

Some lost features...

(1) What happened to the "Show Weather" checkbox ? I can't toggle the wx.
(2) I can't drag (or "rubberband") a waypoint after I create it. I really want that feature to work.
(3) Regroup the chart links ie: Group the WORLD links together on line 2.
Think of it in terms of catagory then class:

Enroute H-x Enroute L-x ( ) Area xx-xx WAC (sectional) ( ) tac ( ) fly ( ) heli
World Hi World Low World VFR

Dave
It's in the layers
"Show Weather" is now "Text Weather Icons" in the dialog that opens when you click on Layers. The dragging hasn't changed, but there is an annoying Firefox bug that makes it difficult to "grab" the line if the line is nearly horizontal. You have to "hunt" around for a "hot spot" We are going to find a fix for this, as it doesn't look like Firefox is going to fix it. I agree with you on the grouping. I'm thinking 3 buttons for the world charts, and a pull-down list of individual charts. The odd grouping you see is a "order by scale" sort. Thanks for your feedback, and I'm sorry you had to wait for your comment to be moderated. We are under brutal seige by spammers today.

I can't drag a waypoint (on an established route) anywhere...
I RIGHT click on ANY point on ANY chart and RELEASE ...click plan ...establish the waypoint ...REPEAT this process elsewhere to establish a route ...mouse over to either waypoint ...hover over the waypoint ...mouse icon changes to 4-pt cross ...LEFT click and HOLD ...attempt to drag ...NOTHING !!! I CAN'T drag that waypoint anywhere WHEN A ROUTE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED !!! (the waypoint WILL drag by itself ONLY when NOT part of a route) (the route itself WILL "rubberband" in any direction BUT those waypoints are now STUCK !!!) Anybody else having this issue ? If so, then it is a software issue. Please advise.
Dave
I was able to reproduce...
I was able to reproduce... and fix! Thanks for speaking up. I obviously didn't spend enough time testing with IE.

"Show Weather" checkbox...
Found it in the "Layers"...Data Layers...Text Weather Icons (METAR/TAF) Thank you. However, please consider returning this ONE checkbox back up to the same "taskbar" next to "Layers" because it is cycled so frequently and it now requires 3 mouseclicks to: (1) open (2) check/uncheck and (3) close Please advise
tkibob
NO JOY !!!
I have closed every browser...back to desktop... MANUALLY cleared history, recent, cookies, temp internet files, etc.... Run CCleaner... Run NOD32 and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware... Restart the computer AND modem... THE WAYPOINTS (as part of an established route) DO NOT MOVE !!! IF I ADD A WAYPOINT TO THE ROUTE...IT TOO WILL NOT MOVE !!! THIS IS A VITAL FEATURE TO SKYVECTOR...PLEASE FIX.................. Please advise...
Dave
I'll make you a deal
Don't give up on me and I won't stop working until its really actually fixed-fixed. So you were right, it wasn't fixed the last time I thought it was. But I made another change and I think I got it this time. I await your test results.

Congratulations
Man, this is just awesome, good job. How do you fund this stuff? Is there somewhere where we can contribute?
Dave
I want 2 things
1. Tell people, especially FBOs, that you use SkyVector. 2. Take pictures of Airports from the air and post them on this site. Then feel free to enjoy it without guilt.

Waiting since Sun n Fun
This was demo'd at SunNFun 2012 and I was wondering when it was coming out. Looked everyday to see. Thanks for a great product and understand there will be small bugs to work out, but I think you have hit this one out of the park. I am a military aviator and have used Skyvector.com for 5 years to plan flights for trainers and the such. Keep up the great work and see you at Sun N Fun 2013. Cheers.

Question? How long until TFR
Question? How long until TFR's appear on map. I noticed AIFP has a new TFR near my home airport but it hasn't appeared on skyvector yet.

Check Ipad and 2 iPhones
Dave, Still wondering what may have happened. Used a friends iPad and the maps all come up fine, but holding a finger on the station "button" does not bring up current conditions. Tried on another iPhone and mine again, and still nothing. It works fine on a Macbook Pro and PC's just fine. Tinkered all around w/ Layers and no-go. It used to work....

Current Weather no workie on iPhone or iPad
Dave, Checked with a buddies iPad today and another iPhone and neither will display current weather while holding the finger on the button. Played around with layers too and got nothing. Hope there is a way to get that to work again. Is a really awesome feature!

It is no big deal changing the lat/long format to decimal degrees but will the be an option for displaying that format with the charts. Regards, Ken

Radar Overlay
Great improvements Dave! I continue to extremely enjoy using this website. One bug that I found was the radar overlay seems to move on the map as you scroll in or scroll out. What I mean is a given weather system will be in a different location on the map depending on how zoomed in or zoomed out you are. Not sure if this was mentioned before or not?

Dave, Great work! What is the source of the int'l. chart data? Of course, I'd like to see more int'l. airports, equiv. of int'l, airport AFDs, a Charts icon that brings up all the int'l. charts. Looking forward to fuel price pop-ups! Thanks, Mike
