Skyvector has issues with the Browser on Andriod Tablets...
Any word on a way to get the Andriod Tablets to function right with the Skyvector site? The Playbook from Blackberry as well as the Amazon Fire Andriod based both work. Also the Ipad works as well. Charles.

Android Challenges
The fragmented android user community represents a very difficult landscape for a site like SkyVector. According to developer.android.com as of December 1, 2011 only about 2.4% of all android devices support multitouch "pinch-zoom" gestures in the browser. (Android version 3.0 or greater) It's always exciting to see new technologies and platforms emerge, but we can't afford to buy every new device and spend time figuring out if and how it will work with SkyVector. If someone wants to donate an Android 3 device to us, we are pretty confident from the documentation that we can make it work. I know this is not the answer you were hoping for, but until things get cleaned up, it is the reality of the situation. -Dave

Where does it say that
Where does it say that pinch-to-zoom isn't available until Honeycomb? My Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) had pinch-to-zoom in the browser when I got it (2.1 Eclair), after it received its only OTA update (2.2 FroYo), and today with Cyanogenmod 7 installed (2.3 Gingerbread). While I would be thoroughly tickled to give SkyVector an Android Christmas present, my contract isn't up for renewal for several months. I would, however, be very happy to vigorously test Android-specific implementations of the site.
My info comes from this discussion
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=11909 Maybe you're using a 3rd party browser like Dolphin?

No, it's stock, but I made
No, it's stock, but I made the error of assuming that multi-touch == multi-touch. I didn't even consider that the Javascript impl didn't support it. Is a native app out of the question?
Native Android App
While we would love to have an app for every platform, there's no question that our first should be for iOS. If we are able to make a successful app for iPad then we'll evaluate if it is worth it to rewrite it for other platforms.
If I go to
If I go to http://skyvector.com/ipad.html it works about as well as the ipad. I can drag pan the map and all that jazz. Don't really give a hoot about pinch zoom. The + and - works on the map. Perhaps you could detect Honeycomb and or Android tablets and redirect to the same page as you are doing for I pad? C.
Hardware 3D Acceleration in browser.
The problem with that approach is that SkyVector uses a CSS3 transform called "translate3d" to move and scale the map. I don't need the "3d", but using that call instead of "translate" makes it much smoother, almost native-app-like on iOS devices. On a device that doesn't utilize hardware 3D acceleration for 3D CSS3 transforms, the result is that the map panning is worse than if we had just used "translate". Before we send all android devices to the iPad version, we need to know which devices are better with "translate3d" and which devices are better with "translate" We'll hopefully have a workable solution soon. -dave
Great news. Something to
Great news. Something to think about is the global roll out of Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 for all Android devices. If any testing or development is to be done, that is the platform standard to target for the Android side. Google decided to de-fragment their OS ecosystem to make it easier for developers. On the Tablet side, the top selling Android tablet was Asus Transformer. Sold approximately 2 million units last quarter second to Ipad2 and followed closely by Samsung I believe. http://androidcommunity.com/asus-projects-as-many-as-6-million-tablet-sales-in-2012-20111223/ 7 Adding IcS 4.0 to it makes it even more powerful. Its a great tablet. Now with Toshiba, Acer and Samsung selling hundreds of thousands of units as well, 10.1" ICS based tablets will be out there in the millions. Whatever you decide to do, continued success to you in the future! C.

Toshiba 10" Thrive user here waiting for the day that I can use Skyvector on the tablet. Thx, Dave
Great news!!!! Skyvector
Great news!!!! Skyvector works on the latest Android tablet OS! Just so people understand, unlike Apple, Android has 2 major OS's. One for phones and one for tablets. Over 60 percent of phones are Gingerbread 2.3.x . The initial release of the tablets was Honeycomb 3.x. Apple just has IOS 5 for the tablet and phone. Google needed to change something to make life easier for devs... Even though there are now over 450,000 apps in the Android App Store, Google wants to unify the OS ecosystem to make life easier for devs. They introduced Ice Cream Sandwich. ICS 4.0 as we gear heads call it. All new phones and tablets come with it. All the current tablets and major phones are getting it too. Asus just released the Transformer Prime tablet with ICS and they just started rolling out the update to the original Transformer that I own. I just received my update a few days ago to ICS 4.0. Its great! Skyvector now works on it. At least as well as my old iPad. C.
Nexus 7
I have been playing with the new Beta World Wide Charts in my Nexus 7 tablet (Android 4.1), and I impressed. Everything works perfectly. What a joy! Thank you, David.
Did you download any app or
Did you download any app or just the browser version ? does it work offline ?
Android 2.3
My only internet connection is my 2.3 Android smartphoneso I guess the only feature I can access is the airport lookup feature. From the sounds of things I need to upgrade to the os4.0 is this correct?
Nexus 7
