American Airports Corporation, under contract with the County of Los Angeles, is responsible for the management and operation of this controlled 184-acre general aviation airport, which is located in the middle of the San Fernando Valley between three major freeways (the I-5, 210 and 118), with downtown Los Angeles 15 miles to the southeast and Santa Monica 15 miles to the south.
Whiteman Airport has 600 based aircraft and experiences over 115,000 annual operations. The airport is home to a state-of-the-art contract air traffic control tower and multiple aviation-related businesses, including three major maintenance repair stations, multiple flight schools and helicopter maintenance operations. The airport is often a backdrop for the motion picture industry, with several major motion pictures having been filmed there.
Whiteman Airport has one paved runway. Runway 12/30 is 4,120 feet long and 75 feet wide, and is equipped with medium intensity runway lighting (MIRL). Each end of the runway is equipped with a two-light precision approach path indicator lighting (PAPI).
Quality AvFuel Jet A and 100LL Avgas are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can fuel your aircraft yourself at the self-serve pumps, or you can call for the fuel truck to come service your plane.
The airport is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Fuel and oil can be purchased at any time. Fuel services can be reached by calling (818) 312-2911 or by using the Unicom frequency – 122.95.
