A place for student pilots of all experience levels to share knowledge.

question about planning

First: I am a beginner.

When I right click on an airport or VOR, i see PLAN (S) and behind that a sign with name.

Whats that?

And whitch to choose?

How to export (save) a flightplan from skyvector to the Garmin

Is that possible?

For example from Rotterdam airport to Amsterdam airport.

And with 1 or 2 VORs

Flying on a victor airway

I'm a student pilot, currently planning to fly a cross country. Let's say I was planning to fly from St. Andrews Airport (CYAV) to Red Lake (CYRL). If I look at the charts, I can clearly see a Victor airway connecting the two.

1. If I plan to fly the V Airway, would I need to mention that to FIC upon filing my flight plan?

2. Once I enter terminal airspace, will I be directed to join the V Airway, or will navigation be on my discretion?

Thanks in advance!

Dear brothers,,

I just buy comm1 (radio simulator) software. I have question regarding Class Bravo Airspace, but the seller said that they "just" sell software, doesn't have an idea with lesson inside it. :D (hahaha)  I've search in other topic, but there is only 1 topic which discussed about B airspace and they are talking about VFR chart.

Let's begin to my 1st issue regarding radar service termination request by plane.

Flight Level Changes

Hi, all,

I entered a flight plan from LGTS to LIBD via several waypoints.  I entered the GS, and it gave me the ETA to LIBD.  I was wondering, is there a way to enter changes in flight level, I want to see how it affects the ETA to LIBD.

Thanks in advance.

I know what RNAV means. "Area Navigation" using VOR/NDB/GPS/ILS etc.

I also know the difference between VFR and IFR. But...

What does the term "Non-RNAV" mean?

Eg. Creating a flight plan using FltPlan.com.

Three options:

1. IFR (ICAO format) required for all non-USA and all RNAV flight plans.

2. IFR (Domestic format) For USA, non-RNAV flight plans.

3. VFR

Thx in advance.

AirAsia 8501 ADSB Airspeed Analysis

While it is still extremely early to speculate on the fate of AirAsia 8501, analysis of the ADSB position reports provided by FlightRadar24 reveals a startling fact.

The ADSB squawks report a steady airspeed, while the distance measured between each coordinate shrinks. By comparing the timestamp of each position report, and measuring the distance between each report, we can calculate an average ground speed. Plotting this speed along with the speed reported by the ADSB squawk itself, presumably from the ARINC 429 data bus, reveals this:

Proposed Flight.

Where to fly

I am stull a student pilot who should be getting my solo this summer hopefully.  I was just curious, what are the limitations to flying near the city? Like do you have to stay away from hospitals or schools or stuff like that? Thanks
