The Roy Hurd Municipal Airport is located in the city of Monahans due west of the downtown district at 801 S. Mabel Street. The airport is a city-owned public-use airport and it serves Monahans and the surrounding area. The airport was built in 1946, it covers 277 acres and is the only airport in Ward County. The airport is named in honor of the first WWII casualty from Ward County, Roy Hurd.
The airport is primarily used for private aircraft and small corporate jets, the small runways are not meant for commercial planes. The elevation is 2,614. There are two lighted runways that measure 4,920 feet in length and 75 feet in width. There is self-service 100LL Jet-A fuel available at the airport. There are 18 hangers. There is also a courtesy car that is available on a first come first serve basis.
