Great Airport!
Check weather constantly, prior to your flight - especially if traveling from a distance.
This airport is infamous for being surrounded by low clouds at the ends of the runways (I've been there, done that).
SO, have plan B and C ready if you get there and see the clouds creeping over the runway.
Watch out for possible downdrafts/updrafts on short final to either approach end.
The Unicom (unofficial "Tower") is helpful and can provide winds and traffic information - and can hold the bus down to Avalon if you're running late!
There is a small landing fee ($25 2013) and an overnight fee ($unk). Aero Club members land free for one year - pays for itself with only 6 landings!
There are restroom facilities, a nice cafe, great gift shop and a small nature/historical display.
Transient parking is in the paved area in front of the "tower". There are no tie down ropes, just rocks and some small wood blocks, if you can find them.
I suggest doing the airport loop hike (I actually have not, yet), and taking the bus down to Avalon for some seafood, zip lining, para sailing, or a stroll through the shops.
Check the airport's web site for the transportation schedules and fares.
New runway is 60ft way
The new runway is only 60 ft wide, not 75 as still in the FAA records.
